Winter Wonderland Whistler Wedding at Nita Lake Lodge: Anita + Raymond

I still remember a lovely Spring day when we first met with Anita and Raymond and they told us about the Whistler winter wonderland wedding they were planning. They were so excited about their snowy wedding, that even I, who couldn’t wait for the warm, sunny, summer to start, got caught up in their beautiful, snowy wedding ideas. Their excitement was infectious! I have to admit, I was concerned that there would be enough snow in the Whistler village to help create this magical wonderland, but somehow the clouds and right amount of precipitation aligned, along with the freezing temperatures to bring snow only 2 days before their wedding! They were so lucky and got their Whistler winter wonderland wedding after all! Their dream of getting married at Nita Lake Lodge outdoors in the cold winter air came true!

It was our pleasure to photograph them getting ready with family and friends at the gorgeous Whistler Fairmont Heritage Place: At Nature’s Door nestled high up on the ski runs leading into Creekside. Since their theme was Winter Wonderland, we selected a spot right on the ski run for their reveal to see each other for the first time. We carved out a path in the snow for Anita to easily walk up to Raymond, meanwhile Justin and I, plus the video crew, waded awkwardly, sinking deep into the snow with every step. It’s such a special moment when one of our couples sees each other for the first time on their wedding day and we always feel so lucky to be a part of witnessing it and this was no exception. The difference of course, and difficulty this time, was us getting stuck and sinking in the snow with each step and really having to anticipate each angle, before moving because it was no small task to simply move a feet meters! Cold, but fun, nonetheless!

After our photo session with their bridal party, we headed up the mountain to Chick Pea Hut, a very special spot for them, which is where Raymond proposed on Whistler mountain to Anita on one of their snowboarding trips. Super cute! And it’s not everyday you see a bride bold enough to ride a snowmobile in her wedding gown! Anita you were amazing and brave! Then it was a race back down the mountain to their wedding ceremony at Nita Lake Lodge, outdoors on the patio with family, lots of kids and friends. There was a fireside hot chocolate/cocktail hour, dessert bar, S’mores bar and fire pit to add to their wintery theme. It was a fabulous wedding day that their guests are sure to remember….. after they thawed out! 😉
