Jen + Nav created a beautiful, colourful and cheerful day, which was perfect for their wedding, and made for a great ambiance to have awesome party with their friends!

They chose to have a Western wedding with Indian Flair honouring their multicultural union. The rich combination of magenta, emerald, green and burgundy colours were reflected in their bursting floral arrangements which were found all over The Vancouver Club from lobby to ballroom. This they contrasted with royal blue heavy and elegant draping, all in a dark mood lighting which created such an elegant, yet cheerful mood.

In addition to their unique decor, they uniquely celebrated their wedding with their young 6 yr old son, who was a very snappy little dresser, who was also their ring bearer and what I think is really so special, is that he is old enough to remember the day his parents were married! So cool! Not many kids get to say that!

We felt so privileged to be a part of this special wedding, to capture it for Jen + Nav and to have worked with such a solid team of great vendors who truly made their day beautiful!

For those of you who have asked what our Portrait Book looks like, we thought we’d show you an example from Becca + Greg wedding. They choose to write messages, as well as having portraits, which added an extra element, almost like adding conversation to their already charismatic portraits.

For our portrait booth service, you can choose to give your guests the online gallery from which they can download print-ready files the next day, (no more forgetting photos on the table) or choose to add a Portrait Book for yourselves (Book delivered in 6-8weeks).

We girls started at the Opus Hotel getting ready and then casually walked down to the Aquabus and hitched a ride by boat to Granville Island, where Heidi met Ben for their First Look. It was a gorgeous sunny afternoon, so it was busy on Granville Island, but because we all approached the Island by boat, being such a fun and relaxing way to get there, the crowds didn’t bother us at all. In fact, the random positive cheers and congratulations by total strangers really added to the already great vibe of  Heidi + Ben and their siblings who we were photographing.

Their wedding ceremony was at the The Loft in Yaletown and Heidi, being the creative soul that she is, designed all the graphic printed elements to their day, including painting onto canvas, the massive geometric background for their wedding ceremony. Instead of a ring bearer, both Heidi and Ben’s Mom’s before the ceremony began, brought the wedding rings to the front of the guests, thoughtfully spoke of the wedding rings and their meaning and asked all guests to personally hold and bestow or spiritually inject good vibes into the rings for the couple. It was a lovely gesture that added so much depth to the ceremony and had all the guests involved.

Their guests enjoyed a fabulous cocktail hour while we took family photos outside, the meal and speeches were entertaining and they all partied and danced well into the night, while nibbling on traditional family treats and contemporary ones too, (those were the unicorn cookies!). 🙂

Hi Justin, I see you there! 🙂

Justin and I were there the day these two met.

Several years ago we photographed a wedding where Evelyn was a guest and Josh was a groomsmen at a mutual friends wedding. They were both single at the time, but Evelyn said to me, “You and Justin have been such great photographers and so awesome today, that one day when I find the right man and get married, I want you to photograph our day.” I remember feeling so touched by her comment and compliment that I haven’t forgotten it, and clearly she didn’t either, because fast forward almost 9 years later, here we were photographing their wedding in Vancouver.

Evelyn and Josh flew into Vancouver and were married at Holy Rosary Catholic Cathedral in downtown Vancouver on a crisp cold, but sunny day. When planning their day, we all never envisioned a sunny day in December in Vancouver, visions on torrential rain were more on everyone’s thoughts, but sun/dry is what we got, hooray!

They had a lovely church service and have a fabulous time at their wedding reception at the Vancouver Club.

Lots of laughing throughout dinner and stellar dance moves were to be had on the dance floor.

And we also got to catch up with the couple (Nina + Dennis)  whose wedding Evelyn and Josh met at, all those years ago. I love it when things come full circle. 🙂
